Jupiter DAO: Things we should explore in 2025

This year helped to build a great foundation for Jupiter DAO.

As the base has been established, I think it’s time for the DAO to grow more sophisticated and explore other developments.

  1. Sophisticated Governance System

The current governance system is considered a success due to the number of staked tokens and wallet addresses, but I believe it can be improved. In 2025, I hope the DAO can explore delegation and other governance systems. Delegation would allow members to assign their voting power to another wallet of their choice. This would eliminate the security risks associated with voting using a ledger. It would also allow non-participating DAO members who hold or have staked JUP to appoint someone active to exercise voting power on their behalf. I would also like the DAO to do more than pay lip service to other governance systems, like futarchy. The finer details, such as how it would work and the ASR split (if any), can be decided through discussions.

  1. DAO Chest

None of the other suggestions in this post would be possible without funding, so let’s discuss the next point.

I propose that the DAO creates a separate vault to serve as an emergency fund. The emergency fund should consist mostly of stables and could include other assets. This would ensure that processes aren’t slowed, and the DAO doesn’t fall apart during a bear market or suffer from unpreparedness. The vault would also ensure that every other initiative the DAO pursues can be carried out without hesitation due to limited funds.

  1. Developer Grants/Hackathons

There is a growing number of Jupiter members who are tech-savvy, with a significant portion being developers. The DAO needs to attract more people with these strengths, so I propose that Jupiter DAO organizes more events focused on people building on Jupiter or integrating with Jupiter. This could also be expanded to indie developers building other products. In 2025, I hope Jupiter can cultivate a developer base, which would also help satisfy the need for developer advocates.

  1. JupiterDAO Ventures

JupDAO Ventures would be a valuable addition to the DAO in 2025. Growing the developer base and encouraging people to build on or with Jupiter is crucial, but there needs to be a vehicle to fund discovery and innovation within the DAO. JupiterDAO Ventures could provide this funding. It would also be beneficial if Jupiter could invest in other projects that align with its mission.

  1. JupiterDAO Public Goods

• A Catdet initiative for a cat shelter and adoption service.

• A project that rewards the use of renewable energy.

• Another Catdet initiative that rewards proper waste collection and recycling.

These are three ideas I’ve observed struggling this year because Jupiter DAO lacks a system for supporting public goods. While public goods might be controversial since they don’t directly deliver value to the DAO, it would be absurd for all the cats to thrive in their bubble without outreach to the broader world. Public goods can be defined as things like equipping schools or providing drinking water, which have clear societal benefits. I would like the DAO to explore these ideas in the coming year.

  1. Web2 Infiltration

Jupiter has little to no presence outside of the Discord server and X pages. One of the best ways to build publicity outside the crypto echo chamber, aside from public goods, is to engage with activities that people associate with fun.

In 2025, it would be great if Jupiter DAO started building a presence in the mainstream world by exploring areas like esports (building a team), sports events (rallies, tournaments, sports centers, or sports teams), and other fields such as the arts, music, book clubs, etc.

Note: This post is meant to start discussions on whether you think these initiatives are worth pursuing in 2025 and what changes you’d like to see. Nothing in this post is a formal proposal as it is simply a set of ideas for consideration.

Some very good ideas. Thank you for sharing, Aro!

I especially like the idea of delegation in the first point on DAO governance. I think the Helium DAO has been able to implement this in a very neat way, allowing users to read a bit about a delegate before delegating, and still being able to vote themselves if they wish. Would love to see something similar implemented here.

5 and 6 are my next two favorites, in order.
I think it would be really great if we, as a DAO, could allow community members to bring charitable initiatives to the attention of the broader community for further physical and/or financial support. For 6, would love to see a Jupiter esports team made up of members from the community, or a Jupiter chess champion in the professional circuit.

Excited to see these come to life in 2025!

Brother

I love this proposal and here are some of my takeaways.

  • Delegation of voting was somthing i supported since the first time you mentioned. I believe it is a great way for those non-voting members to ne rewarded while the delegatee also receives a small percentage, like a fee for the service.
  • Also I like the idea of empowering developers and even create like sister protocols (under the jup umbrella) to expand the Jupiverse.
  • I really love integration and support of other protocols (as you know I would love to have some sort of integration between Sanctum and Jupiter)
  • I do want to say about the futarchy approach. It could be use as an additional governance while still preserving the current DAO.
  • Lastly, implenting a vault to consider stables, specially during the bear, could really lead to a more sustainable future as helps to minimize risk.

Great post brother.

Interesting proposal

I am ready to be in the cyber team of Jupiter, I have a lot of experience in computer games

Thank you for putting this together so well, Aro! I personally like the hackathon idea the most, and have been thinking about the same for some time.

  • First of all, these are great bonding events for the community (people working in groups for days/weeks/months, competing against other teams).
  • Also, it does not have to only include developers, product/project/marketing managers, or DAO members with ideas can bring value to any team.
  • On top of that, hackathons don’t have to be development focused in general, we can compete in many categories, including content creation.

Whilst I like the idea you need to remember that Jupiter already has an elite team of developers working for them. They probably don’t need more.

Additionally we do have grants and bounties currently active. They’re almost every week. These are for content creators participants and so so much more.

Some really great and thought-provoking ideas here. All of which possess the awareness of the need to reach out further, beyond the microcosm of Jupiter itself, to a ‘true’ Jupiverse, which encompasses other projects, other organizations, networks (digital and non-digital) initiatives, teams and so on. I am especially interested in points 4 and 6. 4, with ventures, where Jupiter could potentially invest in projects that align with its ethos and mission and with point 6, web2 infiltration, with building a broader presence. Further to the interesting ideas of sports events etc, for awareness, I would to suggest that it should also encompass more events similar (but more focused to Jupiter’s gotals, e.g. AllStars, more (targeted) Breakpoint style mini events, plus the growth of marketed and promoted partnerships based upon the move towards a Giant Unified Market (GUM).

Thanks for these great ideas! Many of your points have been debated in the DAO through past proposals. A review of those discussions could provide insight into the DAO’s stance on these topics.

During the Jupuary debates, several governance-related proposals were discussed, though they didn’t attract widespread input. Ideas like a quadratic voting system were raised, but feedback suggested a preference for simplicity, as complex systems can be hard to manage. If you’re keen, you could compile a report analyzing these proposals and community feedback, which might help the team and DAO assess potential governance changes.

The DAO already has structures like WG funding and grants in place. However, your suggestion to convert funds to stablecoins is excellent for preserving value during bear markets.

The team encourages initiatives through WGs or independent projects and supports grants for approved ideas. Hackathons, as you proposed, could be a great way to inspire innovation and engagement.

Your Jup DAO public goods and Web2 infiltration ideas are very good ideas. Was nice reading through your write up.

That doesn’t refer to developers that already work for Jupiter.
I also think we’re doing good on the content front which is why it’s not included in this post.
Glad to see you here, Lochie!

-This post doesn’t complicate the current voting process but is for adoption of other governance mechanisms in addition to it. Also delegation as I’ve suggested makes the current vote process safer and more lucrative for active DAO participants. It’s not a replacement of the current voting system.

-The DAO wallet was funded with 10million USDC and 100million JUP at the start. The 10million USDC was to be used up furthering the DAO initiatives within the year, although that hasn’t happened. It is not a vault which my post suggests.

Thank you for reading through the post!

Thank you!

What do you think of the other points

You are right
I think there several bounties for content creation have been funded throughout the year.

I would like for us to directly cultivate developer memberships, which is why I suggested this. I see your point with the inclusion of areas like product management and marketing. They can have their own thing.

I didn’t disagree with the brilliant ideas you suggested @Aro. Just responded to your suggestions with some context. So we are largely on the same page. Thanks for your response to further clarify.

all sound good but however the delegation would reduce activity from the stakers end, in which case the ASR becomes a bit not reflectory

Good job
You enumerate some cogent activities that jup needs to inculcate. I like the ideologies of No. 5 & 6, I think it would be nice to garner more awareness while promoting renewable energy.

I was actually intending to posit one or two supportive ideas but they somehow elope me when wifey left me with the kids (I shall revisit this).

To the moon and beyond guys.

This is actually a very brilliant research and I hope it’ll be considered with quick effect

I agree the most of your content, im not sure if delegate cats decision is a right way to fight centralized whale’s power. I mean that if members are focused, governance dues like votes are very affordable.
