Jupiter DAO Ideas

Do you have an idea for the Jupiter DAO, but don’t want to drive it yourself? Is there anything you think that the DAO could do better, that the DAO doesn’t have but should?

Whether you have one, a few, or many different ides, this is the place to post them. The Core Work Group wants to improve upon how we capture and retain ideas that could be useful for the DAO, and we’re kicking this off with this post.

We want to create an atmosphere where we encourage public sharing of ideas and discussion around those ideas, and we’re hoping that the DAO wants that too. Any ideas that is relevant to the DAO can be posted here, large or small.

If you have an idea that you would prefer not to post in public, we have also created a form option that can be found here

We encourage everyone who can to post their ideas in public, but if you prefer to submit it in private to the CWG, that is also an option. Additionally, the form includes an option to relay feedback directly to the CWG, meaning you can submit both ideas and general feedback to us using this form. The form does not collect email addresses, but there is an optional section to provide a means of contact.

I’m hoping everyone take advantage of this opportunity to brainstorm in public, and stay tuned to more initiatives in this direction. Starting in a week or so I will also start posting up in voice chat in Discord a few hours a day for anyone that wants to pitch or discuss ideas with me directly.

If you want to request a 1on1 session with the CWG, whether it’s to pitch a more elaborate idea, talk about the Jupiverse, how to get involved etc. you can use this link

We cannot guarantee that we can accept all, but we will try to schedule as many as possible.

Hi Morten! :green_heart:

As a catdet I have to say a few things:

1 - I feel good about the work done so far with CWG. The weekly AG articles are an incredible summary of how the week has gone. The work of Kemo, Morten and Slorg is difficult due to the media pressure that Jupiter has, which makes any decision 1000000% more complicated than it should be.

2 - You do well in listening to the community for each vote or next move of where jup is going, but… sometimes that transparency can be a double-edged sword, you know that.

3 - What could we improve from my point of view? I think that something that everyone complains about is the cancellations of events in the last minutes, hours. In my case it almost always falls at a good time (around 4-5 PM) but there are people who get up around 3-4-5 AM for the broadcasts and they are cancelled. Which is the “but” that I would put on it, in my point of view.

I know that it is not easy to lead a team with so many people and depend on the last word of Meow, he is very strict with his essays and always tries to do it 1000% better each time and I can understand his frustration when he does not have the perspective that he has in his head.

This morning I read a tweet from him that said that before the votes he would make a call or space to really convey with words what he means when he writes an essay.

It is very difficult to convey through writing, which is why improving communication through spaces is crucial.

And if for some reason there is any doubt that an event is going to be cancelled, let us know in advance.

Greetings… RJ :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

This is an awesome and welcomed idea :smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes: - Great Job!.

It is also timely considering the current cracking state of the Jupiverse DAO community due to the 2030 Proposal and other issues of independent small creators contributing to the DAO are being underrated and forced to meet up some high standards without considering that they are individuals trying their best to contribute in their own way with their own resource in growing the Jupiverse pie.

It’s a sign that our community voices are gradually been heard and responded to (Hopefully we have concrete permanent actions like this to address other DAO community areas of concern and not just temporary reactions with no lasting solutions).

I have identified some problems and suggested some debatable solutions in my open letter which I think I should link here instead of re-posting it for check.

PROBLEMS With Suggested Debatable SOLUTIONS:

  1. Partially Transparent Leadership
  2. Non-Open Grants/Bounty
  3. Non-Diversity In Embracing Community Independent Creators/Contributors
  4. The DAO grants team’s current focus and approach aren’t good enough (+ my inspiring story on how to do it better)

Once again, Thanks for this open feedback platform!

Appreciate you so much :folded_hands:

The cancellations and reschedules have been a significant issue as of late, and something that erodes the trust that’s been built up with the community. For that I am sorry. It has largely been out of our control to influence, but we are making headway in ensuring that it does not continue to happen in the future, but more on that later. Trust me when I say we recognize it as an issue just as much as you do, and we will do better

Hi! I appreciate your ideas, but this post is for ideas the DAO can execute on only. We don’t have full authority over product, and thus we cannot execute on this unfortunately.

I know you recognize this and it affects you as a work group as well as us as a community

That’s why I appreciate you doing this so that the community can express their opinions.

Let’s hope that everyone who criticizes on social media stops here and makes constructive criticism.

Greetings, friend! :green_heart:

The rules are made by people. This is good for everyone. Why not implement it? The representative of Chinese area strongly demands it. Please show it to Meow, if you want jup to be better.

I can show it to them, but like I said, it is not within our authority to decide.

Creating a dedicated discord channel for WG Micro Tasks & Grants discussions.

Jup research is not used as actively as discord by most of the folks.
Having a structured channel inside discord will help in organizing the discussions and having better feedback loops.

The new channel can focus on 2 things to start with:

  1. Grants: Engaging the community earlier in the process -
For Grants application which move to the next step, right now there is a discussion with CWG and then there is a discussion with CoCs in discord.
But the discussion can start before moving to the CWG and CoC stage as well. Where the broader community is involved in giving feedback to the initial thoughts of the grant proposal.
This will help in decentralizing the feedback with the help of larger community and the applicant can work on the feedback to refine the proposal.

  2. Micro tasks by Working Groups -
WGs may have too many things on their plate.
There will be small tasks at hand which are isolated tasks and they do not need much context.
Those can enable community member to get started and contribute.

This is about making collaboration easier and more inclusive.

Suggestion: Peer Review & GTM Process for Jupiter DAO Proposals

I worked in technical support and program management at a crypto start up last year, one of the biggest pain points for our user base were clear product updates and changes. I spent a lot of time preparing Go-to-market material so that our support team was ready for new launches via, FAQs, internal and external documentation, etc. this process helped us triage lots of questions, set expectations, and anticipate user concern. It cut out all of the noise and funneled high quality feedback that the team could use.

Would you rather answer the same simple questions 100x or high quality, constructive questions 10x?

In light of the most recent proposals, I have to admit that we are in a very reactionary state as a DAO and community. We have an idea of what the proposals are about but by the time the official proposal is out the window to deliberate and vote is too small. This leaves too much room for bad interpretations.

To enhance the clarity, preparedness, and overall quality of proposals before public release, I propose a structured peer review process. This will help anticipate key questions, refine messaging, and ensure alignment with DAO goals.

Proposed Structure:
Before a proposal is published, it will be reviewed by a mix of experienced and emerging DAO members (lottery):

• 2-3 Cats of Culture (experienced members with deep DAO knowledge)
• 2-3 Catdets (engaged members in the learning pipeline)

The review will take place through either a live session or a secure, structured async discussion. Reviewers will:

• Provide feedback on clarity, quality, and tone
• Identify potential concerns and common questions.
• Curate a preliminary FAQ to streamline discussions post-release.

The goal here is to anticipate community sentiment and add to the draft earlier. Is the message clear? What questions come up? What is the tone? Are there any red flags that shouldn’t be red flags? Does that say what I think it says?

This process ensures that proposals benefit from community feedback earlier while maintaining efficiency and preparedness.

There are nuances to this process but I think involving the DAO members / the community (not CWG or Jupiter core team members) to help anticipate feedback would go a long way.

Agreed.

We have something similar for all votes instantiated by the DAO (CWG), but I cannot guarantee it for votes instantiated by the team (like the current one). A typical DAO vote comes with a calendar where the dates of all important events for a vote will happen, like when a proposal is drafted (typically some days before the vote open), important appearances and sessions that the subject of the vote participates in both to answer questions and to solicit feedback for the vote. We haven’t many DAO votes recently, but those of you who’s been around a while will remember this structure, and it is something we’re going to continue with.

I like the existing structure for DAO votes, but wouldn’t mind ideating an alternative, however I think we need to stay vigilant about the time it takes to go through any potential process.

This is the struggle of any startup. Ship fast. I know that there is pressure to move quickly, but investing in the preparation even just a bit more could alleviate the reactionary backlash and misinformation.

Even if a peer review is not a good fit, the DAO desperately needs a GTM playbook for proposals.

Thank you for your thoughtful commitment to fostering discussions that inspire ideas for improving this DAO—I sincerely appreciate it.

In recent months, there have been numerous debates and proposals within the DAO regarding the current voting system. Is the DAO satisfied with the system as it stands, or is this an issue that could be put to a vote?

If not, has the DAO considered the proposed solutions from past discussions?

I cannot speak for the entire DAO, but lets open up the floor to debate, here if necessary

The cancellations are a huge problem

From a psychological one of the worst things you can do to someone is create uncertainty, and that’s exactly what this dynamic has done.

Going forward we will be more aggressive in pushing the team to adhere to its promised schedules around things because we know it is not good for the community
