… lochie2001 i realize how useful this would be
honestly this is totally new to me, it’s my new topic to investigate and to learn
Completely get you but you can’t anticipate everything, you could be okay with locking up your tokens for sometime and an emergency comes up, what are you going to do? This why penalties are being proposed- 6% and maybe some (40% of due) ASR
Get your perspective too. The problem is it could be abused. Especially if the penalty is low. Scenarios like negative news that affect short term price (panic selling). People selling just after receiving rewards. Bull run is over and people run for the exit. A few large whales could dump the price creating panic selling. Forcing perhaps other stakers to also choose that option at double the loss, dropping the price further. This would be mitigated somewhat by penalty funds going back to those who held. But could create price swings that could be abused. Just giving my honest feedback.

It would be nice to see a linear vest for unstaking
For example, if you unstake 10k JUP, you get access to 333.33 JUP per day for 30 days
Doesn’t solve the problem for instant liquidity though.
But you can get some liquidity daily, no penalty, less sell pressure
Thoughts?
If that be case, a limit of the total amount that can be unstaked in an hour and day should be put in a place.
ASR is already set at 50M/quarter and the JUP team has that set aside already according to their latest audit until the end of 2025.
The penalty one would incur from withdrawing right away would just go back into the community reserve I’d think……it wouldn’t get added onto the 50M per quarter. Might go towards funding more ASRs later down the road but that’s something we’d have to vote on again as a community!
What do you think about linear vesting?
Agreed that people would just jeet if there was instant unlock with no penalty
Linear vesting gives the best of both worlds but is probably the most mid solution tho lol
This! Good reply/idea!
i’m fine with the way the unstaking works right now… we all understand it takes 30 days to unstake with decreasing voting power during the unstake. I’d just love to be able to borrow agaisnt my staked JUP to improve liquidity!
Thinking about this idea and the suggestion about 50% penalty on instant unstaking, I think the 50% would better be on the accrued ASR reward of the individual instead of eating deep into the individual’s Jup.
Losing one’s money for using a product shouldn’t be an option.
staking mode my best choice …more today with my ASR
staking it for 5 years might be a good idea, for those that came in under 1.00$ thats 5x on your money… Lets go Jup !!!
Since i was recently exploring deposit options for cash in the TradFi and read rules of agreement i saw that in many cases that if you need to cancel due to whatever “urgency”, you will get all your initial capital back with 0% interest earned.
2 options:
- 30 days unstake + ASR rewards (same as today)
- Instant unstake and no ASR rewards
In relation to the above i see it compelling to give to people the option of unstaking fully without any penalty while erase all voting for current ASR period. Including: with this even if they unstake after the current ASR period is over and claim didn’t go live yet, set the ASR rewards to 0 as well.
At the end everyone either bought or fairly earned their #JUP and staked it, so why should we penalize them ASR at the end is a plus not a must. @0xSoju @meow
This is the better solution. Lending rather than Unstaking.
This could also be a great idea!
If you want to immediately withdraw your stake - you lose your asr for that quarter! I think that’s happy medium
Good idea and 50% is not too much, This could be variable according to the unstaking period, from 0days/50% to 30days/0%
I fully agree. Have also spoke about this irl with friends who are $JUP stakers. They also think this is a better idea than allowing for unlock with a penalty.
I think this is a good proposal and would like to see a mechanism along these lines implemented also.
I think 50% if it’s not the amount to go with, is definitely around the mark. You gain a significant advantage by being able to avoid the 30 day unstaking period so the penalty should also be significant to offset this.
