The J.U.P
Q: What does Jupiter United Planet (J.U.P) mean?
A: J.U.P is our vision for a productive community which works together to move Jupiter and crypto forward. It is made up of users, the team, the DAO, Catdets, and working groups. You can read more about the concept in this Forum Post
Q: What is a Catdet?
A: Catdets are active members in the Jupiter community who help to grow the DAO. You can read what it means to be a catdet on the Catdet Webpage
Additionally, the catdet role is not limited to Discord. You can become an official catdet through Reddit or Twitter as described below.
Q: There’s so many acronyms, what do they all mean?
A: You can find a list of them and their definitions on the Acronym Page, although do note: This is likely not 100% comprehensive.
Working Groups
Q: What is a Working Group?
A: They are small task forces of independent operators led by key ecosystem members which guide critical work in areas like growing the Jupiter community, enhancing the Solana ecosystem, and creating processes for the DAO.
Q: What are the current Working Groups?
A: Currently there are 4 Workgroups, which include:
The CWG: JupiterDAO
Uplink: Jupiter Uplink
JUP & JUICE(trial) JUP AND JUICE
CAWG(trial): JUP Catdets
Q: Can you tell me a bit about each of the 4 groups?
A: You can read the budget proposals for the CWG, Uplink, CAWG, and J&J to get a more in depth overview.
tldr;
The CWG guides Core Processes for the DAO
Uplink is content based
CAWG deals intimately with the catdets
and J&J runs a podcast studio
Additionally the CWG has put out a quarterly report for the last 2 quarters to update what they’ve been up to: 1 and 2
Q: How do I Form a Working Group?
A:The current system to form a workgroup is an evolution based system that starts from doing work for the DAO, receiving a grant, becoming a trial, and then becoming a full fledged WG. You can read more about that process here:
WG System or more specifically about the grant aspect here: Grants
You can read more about the concept of working groups below: Introducing Jupiter Working Groups
Q: What are the skills required to form a workgroup? Can I get some advice
A: A good place to start would be the JUP & JUICE casestudy, detailing how they ascended through the grant stage to reach a trial before any system was in place.
The DAO
Q: What is the DAO?
A: It is a community-run system of governance which seeks to expand both Jupiter and Solana as a whole. The DAO conducts regular votes using the $JUP governance token. For the first year, the DAO will become the main talent pool for working groups, fund working group budgets, distribute grants, and more. Over time, the DAO will further expand its scope and responsibilities as it becomes more decentralized.

Q: How do I vote in the DAO?
A: Join the community discussions on Discord, Twitter, and the Research Forum to educate yourself about any upcoming votes. When a proposal goes live, be sure to cast your vote before the voting period ends. The $JUP token is required to participate, and 1 $JUP = 1 vote. The more $JUP you stake, the more voting power you have.

And the voting site is here: https://vote.jup.ag/
Q: I hear people mention something called the DAO Brand kit. What is this, and where can I find it?
A: The DAO Brand Kit includes a breakdown of the DAO Branding guidelines(font, colors, logos, etc) and also a super in-depth introduction to Midjourney Guide. This guide also includes the ‘official’ DAO prompt that is used widely by the main DAO account and several catdets.
You can find that here: Jupiter DAO Brand Kit
Voting in the DAO
Q: What is ASR?
A: ASR is the means by which active community members are empowered by their participation. The more they vote, the more vote weight they attain via this mechanism. To take part in ASR, lock your $JUP on the voting site https://vote.jup.ag/ and vote on proposals as they go live. ASR is done quarterly, but you need to know — you must actively vote to get them.
Q: How do I stake my $JUP?
A: Visit https://vote.jup.ag/ and connect your wallet. Enter the amount of $JUP you wish to lock and click ‘Stake’. The $JUP will leave your wallet and be deposited into a smart contract, but can be reclaimed at any time by undergoing a 30 day unstaking process.
Q: How do I unstake my $JUP?
A: Visit the voting site above, and connect your wallet. Click on the words “Start Unstake (30D)” located below your voting power. Your $JUP tokens will unlock after 30 days, and you can still vote — however your voting power will decrease linearly until the 30 day mark.
Q: I unstaked my $JUP 30 days ago but when I try to claim it the transaction fails. What is the problem?
A: Reclaiming your $JUP requires an open token account for $JUP in your wallet. If you’ve used a wallet cleanup service, it likely closed any empty token accounts, but you can easily reopen them by buying a tiny amount of $JUP, and then you will be able to claim.
Q: How do I vote on a proposal?
A: Visit the voting site at https://vote.jup.ag/ during a live vote. Connect your wallet, scroll to the bottom where the ‘Proposals’ are listed, and click on the active measure. Then, cast your vote from among the choices.
Q: Can I change my vote?
A: Yes, connect your wallet, click on the active measure and make a new choice. The greyed out ‘Vote’ button will change color, and you can then click on it.
Q: Does what I vote for affect my ASR?
A: No it does not. The only important thing is that you participate.
Q: How will I receive my rewards?
A: $JUP rewards, when claimed, will be added directly to your existing stake accounts.
If your $JUP is staked, your staked $JUP balance will increase
If your $JUP is unstaking with, for example, 15 days left, the ASR rewards will also be available in 15 days.
Read more about ASR here: ASR (Active Staking Rewards) Notes
Q: I voted while I was unstaking and it says I voted with less voting power than I have. Why?
A: When you vote while you are unstaking, the voting power you can utilize is equal to the voting power you will have when the proposal ends.
Q: How do I never miss a vote?
A: There are a few ways to stay informed. One is to always keep an eye on the Discord Announcements channel. Most votes and the leadup to them last at least 7-10, and votes themselves last 3-4 days. Often they are mentioned during the live events such as the weekly planetary call.
However, you can also keep watch on the DAO Twitter which not only posts vote calendars, but also reminders during a vote.
You have yet a 3rd option which is to opt into email reminders on the vote page, and click notify me to be sent an email during a vote.
