Jupiter Mobile officially went Live over 5 weeks ago for iOS: Jupiter Mobile
Since then, people have performed hundreds of thousands of swaps with zero-platform fees on what many refer to as the best mobile swap experience in crypto.
With the Android release soon on the horizon, we’d like to amp up the community with a ‘fun’ vote where they’ll be choosing the Mobile Background.
Even though this is a fun vote, it is one of the first instances of the DAO having a tangible impact in shaping JUP Mobile.
Additionally, this will be the first vote to peg the quorum to 30% of staked JUP as per the outcome of the prior vote.
Vote Choices:
The vote is simple. Choose which background you’d like to see on the Mobile page among the 6 options below.
Note: These mockups are not final. Small alterations will be implemented to the winning image before it goes live on the app.
I’ve been thinking about this from a UI perspective. The balance data is the focal point, and it’s located in the center of the screen. So, in my opinion, the background image shouldn’t be too visually strong or centered. While you can adjust the background to reduce its prominence, I feel that some of the images might draw too much attention and could make the interface uncomfortable to use.
Personally, I think the “In Space” image works the best as a stand alone image because the main subject is clearly focused in the center, with little visual clutter around it. However, for the purpose of the background, I believe the “Discovery” image would work better. It allows you to adjust the cropping so that the planet can be placed behind the balance, which won’t be distracting. Plus, the catdet looking at the planet and the balance adds a nice, subtle second meaning, making it feel both relevant and playful.
At the minimum I’d design the backgrounds to be aligned with the balance daily % moves.
You could also let the user’s just pick their own background from a set of options or have it set dynamic on the % move (positive/negative background).
For UX purposes I’d also have the option for the user to just disable the background (for color blind users etc…)
The proposed backgrounds will be adjusted slightly as stated in the post so that they don’t crash with any vital information.
Additionally the top two options will be added as selectable backgrounds. I don’t know yet if you will be able to select ‘no background’, but it’s possible.
I’m casting my vote for the ‘Discovery’ background. The catdet standing on an unknown planet, gazing at Jupiter, perfectly symbolizes experimentation, which I see as a core part of Jupiter’s ethos. This visual captures the spirit of the entire Jup community and encourages continual exploration and innovation. Let’s move forward in our journey of discovery!
